No licensed factory design with a logo stuck on it. A small shop where the same few people draw it, mold it, run the colors, and pack it — close enough to keep an eye on every part.
How it started
It started at a desk, with two identical Stanleys.
One 40oz was mine, one was my wife's — the same cup, all day. We kept grabbing the wrong one, and whenever a full one got bumped it went straight over: a soft chair, an uneven desk, a lapful.
The problem was always the same. A tall, top-heavy tumbler has nowhere steady to sit on the places you actually use it — the couch, the bed, the carpet, a desk that wobbles. So we set out to give it somewhere to settle.
The early versions were wrong in useful ways. Too rigid and they tipped; too soft and they sank in. It took a long stack of tries to land on a base that spreads across the surface and settles instead of balancing — and a different color for each cup, so nobody grabs the wrong Stanley again.

Where it's made
Everything happens within about ten miles.
The molds, the material, the color runs — all of it inside about ten miles of the shop in Orange, California. Nothing crosses an ocean. When a color comes out wrong, we can drive over and look at it the same afternoon.
